Typhoid Is a Serious Health Threat and Can Be Fatal If Not Treated Quickly

Typhoid fever is a serious disease that can be fatal is not treated quickly. It is highly contagious and can be spread easily from one person to another.

Typhoid fever is rare in developed countries that have good water and sewage (waste) systems. However, it is a common problem in parts of third-world countries that do not have good sanitising systems in place. If you are traveling to certain countries or remote, out-of-the-way areas, the Typhoid Vaccine will help protect you from typhoid fever.

Typhoid Vaccine

The WHO currently recommends caution in the following countries:

·         Africa

·         Asia

·         Latin America

How Does the Typhoid Vaccine Work?

Typhoid vaccines are used to prevent typhoid fever which is caused by a germ called Salmonella typhi. The vaccine causes your body to produce its own protection (antibodies) against typhoid.

The typhoid vaccine significantly helps to prevent catching typhoid fever, but it is not 100% effective.

For this, it is wise to take preventative measures even if you do have the vaccine. You should avoid any water and food that may be contaminated or infected and avoid contact with people who have typhoid.

The typhoid vaccine can be administered by any health care professional or local pharmacist.
